Carbondale Super Block

New Construction

This project involved the design and construction of a new Concession Stand and Restroom Facility for the City of Carbondale, complete with a covered seating area to serve visitors across multiple recreational fields. The building program includes men’s and women’s restrooms, a family restroom, a fully equipped concession stand, a dedicated storage room, and a mechanical/electrical space.

The facility is constructed using smooth-face CMU with wood trusses wrapped in red cedar planks, all topped with a durable shingle roof. Full utility extensions—including water, sewer, electrical, and all required MEP components—were incorporated to deliver a fully functioning, code-compliant structure.

The covered seating area, which is directly connected to the main building, features exposed wood trusses wrapped in red cedar, tongue-and-groove wood decking, and a matching shingle roof, creating a unified architectural expression and a warm, inviting gathering space.

Site improvements included all new concrete paving throughout the central area between the four existing baseball/softball fields, providing seamless connection to existing walkways. The project also delivered two new ADA-compliant sidewalks extending from the asphalt path to the soccer fields and to the parking lot south of the complex, significantly improving accessibility and circulation across the site.
